In this short Harvard Business Review article, Joe Panepinto, the senior vice president of strategy at Genuine Interactive, a full-service digital agency, outlines the importance of niceness in the workplace, emphasizing that, "tough and nice don't have to be incompatible."

Even though Mr. Panepinto's article is told from the perspective of an agency executive and his modus operendi of meeting with potential clients, both CIOs and IT executives should heed his advice. "In a world filled with agencies, most of which offer the same services at roughly the same prices, the ultimate difference between success and failure is whether people want to work with your teams or not."
