The Harvard Business Review Analytic Services report, “Driving Digital Transformation: New Skills for Leaders, New Role for the CIO,” makes a strong case that CIOs must do more to increase digital acumen thoughout the organization.
But, while IT may be well-positioned to educate, they’re not always well equipped. Lack of a dedicated forum for digital learning or a CIO that is just "too busy" are cited as key barriers in the report. In other cases, the IT leaders themselves lack the digital knowledge needed or the communication skills necessary to share their know-how with the business.
