Don't Forget to Say Thank You

It can be hard to express genuine thanks to your teams if you have many people working for you. It shouldn't stop you though.

Before you leave for the holiday, stop and take a minute to think about the best way to express your gratitude for all of the hard work that your teams put in day in and day out.

CIOs might not be able to take their entire teams out to lunch, or hand out small gifts, but a thoughtful note can go a long way. Leave individual projects off the table when sending a thank you note to your teams this holiday. Naming specific projects or teams can seem canned and like a edict from on high.

Your teams should know that this message was your idea.

If the role of the CIO is changing in such a way that the ideal scenario is that your staff are at the forefront of driving business projects with IT, now is the time to reward them by saying thank you for not only doing their day to day jobs, but taking the extra step to learn about the business needs and work projects that they are taking on collaboratively with others.

Good Luck! And have a safe holiday!
