The use of cloud based storage has grown tremendously over the last few years, and that growth has also meant a more mature set of products that enterprises are able to leverage to their advantage. OpenStack has brought increased flexibility in configuration to many environments, and the hybrid cloud is one that has become increasingly important to organizations with diverse needs.

Jeetu Patel, GM of EMC Syncplicity works with organizations struggling to meet user demands for access to data without regard to where it is located, and the enterprise's need for security. Patel explains, "Throughout my career, I've  worked a lot on developing a solid cloud strategy and choosing the best tools and services for leveraging the cloud. Hybrid cloud deployment is becoming the go-to model for most large organizations because it offers IT complete control over where data is stored without ANY impact on end user experience.

"According to a recent ESG study, control, security and regulatory compliance are the top reasons organizations are interested in the hybrid deployment model, and they end up loving it because it allows them to meet these requirements while enabling employees to enjoy a seamless user experience completely unaffected by where the files they are working on are stored."

Larger distributed enterprises have extensive need for collaboration and security. According to Patel, "Large organizations use collaboration technology like File Sync & Share rely on the hybrid cloud because they frequently have data residency policies that require some sensitive information be kept on-premise. They then need software that allows them to meet those requirements on the back-end without making it apparent to the end user or disrupting how they get work done."

Hybrid cloud environments are the logical extension of the WAN and cloud technologies, and are becoming the best and most secure platform for enterprise computing.
