If the 2016 predictions are any indication, digital transformation is a top priority for CIOs this year. But Mark Knickrehm of Accenture Strategy says that even with the increased focus, we still may be, “underestimating the impact that digital will have on industry and wider society.” He points to the sheer scope of the digital economy, the wave of new jobs it will create, and the potential for social and environmental impacts as reasons to embrace digital transformation.

And if that digital business initiative has something to do with cloud, you are not alone. A recent survey from EMC found that 88 percent of respondents believe that, “hybrid cloud capabilities are ‘important’ or ‘critical’ to organizations who wish to enable digital business transformation.” Mark Samuels what moving to the cloud means for the CIO and other considerations in ZDNet.

Another thing to consider is how the increased focus on digital is reshaping the CIO-CEO relationship. A quarter of respondents in Gartner's most recent CEO survey listed technology in their top three business priorities of the year. Nicole Laskowski writes in TechTarget that CIOs should seize this moment to partner closely with the CEO and business driving initiatives.
