Leading an IT organization requires a special mix of skills – especially in today’s disrupt or be disrupted business world. Yet CIOs tend to go unrecognized for their tireless work – unless, of course, something goes wrong. The Charlotte CIO of the Year ORBIE Awards program is working to change that by recognizing Charlotte, NC’s top technology executives for their excellence in leadership.

This summer, five Charlotte-area technology executives were honored for their outstanding leadership by the Charlotte CIO Leadership Association.

“The individuals who have earned these awards are the best and brightest leaders – not just within Charlotte chief information officers, but in the categories they represent,” said Melissa Sawyer, Executive Director of CharlotteCIO. “In today’s interconnected world, organizations that win in the marketplace benefit from the superior strategic planning and day-to-day execution these CIOs bring to the table.”

The winners were announced in August at the organization’s awards event in Charlotte. They were selected through a highly-competitive and rigorous judging process conducted by an independent panel of industry experts.
