Sampath Sowmyanarayan

President, Global Enterprise, Verizon Business Group

Sampath Sowmyanarayan leads the global enterprise segment for Verizon Business Group, with responsibility for delivering innovative business solutions to Verizon’s global wireline and wireless enterprise clients. He leads a global team focused on delivering solutions to enable enterprise customers - including 99 percent of the Fortune 500 – to securely connect to the global economy and intelligently manage business interactions and operations in real-time. These solutions include strategic networking, managed services, business communications, security, Internet of Things and professional services solutions, all powered by Verizon’s global and award-winning network.

Sampath also works to build deep global partnerships to unlock a wide range of transformative applications that leverage the advanced capabilities of Verizon’s 5G network and MEC (mobile edge compute).

Prior to joining Verizon Business Group, Sampath was Chief Financial Officer and Head of Strategy and Transformation at Verizon Media, a global business reaching ~900M people monthly. During his tenure and the businesses’ intense period of transformation, he played a crucial role helping to stabilize the business and lay the foundation for long term growth in digital advertising and media.

Previously, Sampath was the Chief Product Officer for Verizon with responsibility for implementing major strategic and product initiatives. These included two of the company’s largest programs, Network Transformation and One Fiber, which served as the foundation for the company’s progress in both wireless network densification and 5G. He also managed a diversified, hyper-growth portfolio of consumer and enterprise innovations from leadingedge technologies including 5G, IoT, Smart Cities, next generation video, advanced enterprise security and SDN based solutions.

Prior to joining Verizon, Sampath was Partner and the Global Practice Leader for the Telecom practice at the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) where he served some of the largest telecom clients across strategic and operational topics.

Sampath earned his Master of Business Administration from Boston University and is a Chartered Accountant. He lives in Short Hills, NJ with his wife Palak and two boys aged 7 and 10. He has a keen interest in geopolitics and cricket; his favorite team is India.
