Sean Catlett is a seasoned cybersecurity professional with many years of building and leading advanced security teams in innovation and thought leadership capacities. Currently, Catlett serves as Optiv’s senior vice president of emerging services where he oversees the cloud and next generation security operations practices. The main focus of the emerging services unit is to look at business processes, technical development needs and offerings, development and execution. Catlett works closely with his team and leaders across the organization to implement a security operation framework that allows us to properly vet and incubate new security solutions that pass through our portfolio management due diligence process.
This innovation framework prioritizes activities in development, excites clients about our knowledge of where the industry is going and reinforces our commitment to helping clients plan security activities with the future in mind. Additionally, this business function maintains industry leading dedicated software engineering resources who work to enable the advancement of proprietary capabilities and quality within our MSS, NGSO and cloud businesses.
Prior to joining Optiv, Catlett was the chief executive officer of Pharos Security, a startup focused on security investment ROI analysis. Catlett also served as senior vice president of detection and response for Fidelity Investments, chief operations officer for iSIGHT Partners, and additional executive and chief information security officer roles that include Betfair, Barclays Bank in London and Bank of America.
While at Barclays, Catlett served as global head of threat and vulnerability management where he transformed that function by creating new and advanced capabilities in data loss prevention, information security and privacy incident response and security assessment. At Bank of America, he led the global security monitoring and response team and built a creative and innovative security R&D team---which delivered millions of dollars in customer value year-over-year through detection of electronic fraud and attacks.
Before entering the information security industry, Catlett was vice president of technology for Streamwaves, the first legal online subscription streaming music service to license all five major record labels.
Catlett holds four U.S. patents in cyber security control framework development, data loss prevention, intrusion detection and e-crime detection, as well as a degree in business administration from the University of Texas at Dallas.
